This is probably a problem with the vehicle anti-theft system (VATS). Try wiping off your ignition key with a cloth. There is a resistor in the key that completes the circuit that controls the security features in this car. If that doesn't work, try your spare key or have one made at the dealership.

There is one other thing that it could be. The VATS wires that connect to the ignition lock cylinder are very thin and fragile. They can break very easily, especially in older models. If those wires break, the car will not start with any key you have. You will have to bypass or short out the security system to get around that problem. It would be best to take it to a garage if that's the issue, since you will have to remove the air bag to access those wires.
