Power Steering Hydraulic System Components In A 1998 Astro.

The factory service manual (second edition) lists, within the variable effort steering components, an inline check valve that fits inside the pressure hose. Is this valve still used? Also, I cannot find a replacement  steering assist control solonoid. Is this available? Thanks for your assistance. Steve Troop (954 9198134)
