Where does the ground wire go on alternator?Does Alternator Have To Be Grounded? A ground strap should go to the frame mounted to the alternator, which is part of the engine itself. In addition to a battery section in the frame there is also a ground strip on the top. Ground circuits don't get much more far than that.

Is there a ground wire on the alternator? The alternator is grounded to the engine block by its mounting points so the engine block itself becomes an electrical ground distribution block. You just need to find a suitable bolt to secure your additional ground wire. You can add a wire from the chassis of the car to the engine block.
