1994 S10 Auto Trans Will Not Shift Out Of Second Gear.

my 1994 s10 will not leave second gear. it goes into reverse and neutral with no problems but as soon as i put it in drive it will shift to second and no higher, rpms will get very high and the speedometer works fine. it has 275K on it. i have heard it may be the "transmission sensor"?
