Won't Import!

Everything else seems to work, however, when I attach my digital camera to the machine to import...nothing happens. I go to iphoto waiting for the prompt if I want to erase the originals after importing and I get no prompt, nothing. I've checked all the connections and everything else seems to be fine. I just can't get it to do anything with my photos (importing them.)
