Canon Mx712 Printer Will Not Copy
All I get is a thick black line down the side of paper

The thick black line indicates that your Canon PIXMA MX712 printer requires an ink cartridge cleaning. If you have the software CD, install the utility software and run the ink catridge cleaning. If you have the budget, replace the ink cartridges with a brand new one. You can buy it here:
