The error code 5011 usually indicates 1 of 2 possibilities: a) either something is stuck in the printer, - or- b) a sensor has gone bad (faulty).
If a sensor is bad, it will have to be serviced, if still under warranty, or if worth the out-of-pocket cost to you if not covered.
However, I suggest trying the following steps first, to see if you can resolve the issue:
- Turn off the unit and unplug the power cable from the printer
- Remove ink cartridge(s) and lightly slide the carriage assembly (printhead) back and forth, you should feel little resistance.
- Clean the rail where the assembly slides across with a tissue to ensure that there is no ink residue on the carriage.
- Clean the cartridge contacts (gold color) of the cartridges and the printhead itself with a cotton swab dipped in little alcohol-
- Inspect the paper feed tray, roller assembly and the area where the carriage moves to.
- If needed, remove any visible obstruction, or debris - ie: small torn peice of paper, paper clips, pins, etc
Then, turn the unit on and see if the error is gone
If you still see the error, then it is most likely a sensor, which is usually not repairable by the user.
