My Laptop Can Not Detect Canon Pixma Mp230

i bought canon pixma mp230 today, i press the "on"button. Insert the setup CD and start to install. but i get stuck at Step 3, my laptop can't detect the printer. Do i need to buy a USB line to connect to my laptop?

The contents of the software CD may not be compatible or outdated. Please use the latest and compatible driver software for your Canon PIXMA MP230 to communicate properly with your computer. You can download the driver from Canon website. Here's the link to the download page.
