Adding Cigarette Sockets.

There are two places in the back of my center consol facing the rear passengers.  I believe they are for the addition of cigarette sockets.  I have kids and often need to plug in a DVD Player and or a Laptop - but only one cigarette lighter up front on the dash. Is there a kit available to add sockets to the rear or the center consol?  Is it a DIY thing or would it be best to go to a dealer.  Don't want to burn the car up.
