The hard part is removing the air bag. You must remove the air bag fuse and disconnect the negative battery cable (and wait at least 10 minutes) before attempting to remove the air bag. Static electricity can trigger the air bag to deploy as well, so be careful! An air bag going off in your face can be fatal.

The back of the air bag has a couple of screws that attach it to the steering column. They are either Torx screws or hex screws. Remove the screws and carefully pull out the air bag. Work from the underside of the wheel, just in case it goes off. Unplug the air bag and set it FAR away from anyone with the front of the air bag face down.

You will need a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. You first remove the center nut and then attach the steering wheel puller. Slowly tighten it up until the wheel pops off. You should have access to the horn clips and the spring once the wheel is removed, but you may have to take off the turn signal switch as well. Wipe off the metal horn clips and check to see if they are bent or not lined up correctly.

You can replace the negative battery cable to check to be sure you have fixed the problem, but be sure to disconnect it again before replacing the air bag. I cannot stress enough that you do not want to mess with the air bag! Be careful!

Installation is the reverse of installation. Be sure to line up the grooves on the steering wheel beofor you tighten it down with the center nut. Make it tight, but don't be too rough on the center nut. You don't want to round if off. Plug the airbag back in and set it on the steering wheel. Tighten it up from underneath the wheel and you're all done.
