1994 Buick Regal Custom Coupe 3.8 V6

I have a buick regal i recently bought, when i pull it from park to reverse, or drive it jerks a bit, then when i take off when it up shifts to any gear it is slightly delayed and shifts hard, the transmission seems strong was wondering what this could be?
