1993 Buick Roadmaster

I have a 1993 Buick Roadmaster.  My ac/heater blower fan switch would not shut off even with the key off.  So I pulled the fuse.  Then, several months ago, I got home and couldn't turn the key off in the ignition, or remove it.  The key turns to start with no problem.  So I have been pulling the ECM fuse to stop the engine and then disconnecting the battery negative terminal when I leave it for awhile.  Now, just today there is a chime that won't go off even while driving and with the seat belt engaged.  What to do??  If I have them pull the steering wheel and change the ignition lock cylinder like they want to do, what are the chances that something else may go wrong, or that it is not even the cylinder lock??  Please help--I love my Buick!  Thanks!
