you can fit a heavy feed dog with heavy needle and needle plate and a heavy foot for about £20.00 odd pounds from the internet .

but if you are sewing thick leather its not an option you need a machine made for sewing leather with a walking foot .

you will be able to sew light leather but with care and with a foot with rollers on it or a slippery surface applied to it to make it slip over the leather surface without pushing the top ply in front of it .

my advice if you are going to do heavy horse gear buy the proper machine for the job and most of the domestic machines advertised on line as semi industrial are not industrial it just makes them sound a better deal they are not .

This model is only for use on light to medium frabics .the -5 is for heaver fabrics

it is a good machine if used on the fabric it was made for .
