Lotus is not considered a "boost"phone, so you need to first establish a CDMA boost account (not iden / nextel) with a boost approved device (you really only need device ESN/MEID #). You can purchase a cheap used boost CDMA phone, or you can even just purchase the IMEI # of boost phone to use for activation purposes only ( around $10 on ebay), which i will refer to as "starter IMEI"

Go online to boostmobile website and select activate phone, enter in starter IMEI/ESN # you purchased and fill in details. You can choose pay as you go plan, so you need only upfront $10 or so to get account activated. Be sure to check off the wireless web option, or you won't have data until you change to daily or monthly plan.

Wait a day or two, then call BoostCustomer service and tell them you want to swap your device for a different one. They will ask for the ESN/IMEI of new device, don't volunteer additional info, give them # . If they ask, you can tell them you received phone as a gift. They wil be able to tell what device it is anyway, as their system will show what device is attached to that esn. Usually they will tell you it is not a boost device, but will set it up anyway. I just say it's a little black phone with a keyboard etc.

If rep hassles you, just wait a bit and call back & try with a different rep. Just play stupid, be nice...it really helps. Being that it is a sprint phone, everything will usually program over the Air, so you won't need to do anything. It's been my experience with Boost that sometimes data services (internet/picmail) don't work right away, but usually are fine within a day or two. Don't forget to tell rep to change your plan, or go back online & change to plan of your choice. Wireless web is internet/email/data & picmail 35 cents a day, or included with $2 daily unlimited plan or monthly unlimited shrinkage plan
