Why Is My Vacuum Blowing Out So Much Air Through The Post Motor Filter?

1. Dirt cup filter is in the dirt cup. The dirt cup filter job is to trap the dirt. If you have a cartridge type dirt cup filter you can clean them by tapping on the side of a trash can. CAUTION! Take out side to do and wear old clothes as this is a very dirty job. Recommended to change 3 months to 1 year depending on make and model (refer to owner's manual).
2. Secondary filter it is under the dirt cup. The secondary filter job is to trap dirt that gets past the dirt cup filter. Recommended to change every 3 months to 1 year depending on make and model. (refer to owner's manual).

3. Exhaust filter it is usually on the side or back of the vacuum. The Exhaust filter job is to trap dirt that gets past the dirt cup filter and secondary filter. Recommended to change every 6 months to 1 year depending on make and model. (refer to owner's manual).
If the filter(s) become clogged so that there is no exhaust, the vacuum cleaner will not be able to pick up, no matter how powerful the motor. If you vacuum fine particles such as carpet fresheners, plaster dust, or powders, you will need to change you filter(s) more often to keep you vacuum cleaner working at peak performance.
