2. Secondary filter it is under the dirt cup. The secondary filter job is to trap dirt that gets past the dirt cup filter. Recommended to change every 3 months to 1 year depending on make and model. (refer to owner's manual).
3. Exhaust filter it is usually on the side or back of the vacuum. The Exhaust filter job is to trap dirt that gets past the dirt cup filter and secondary filter. Recommended to change every 6 months to 1 year depending on make and model. (refer to owner's manual).
If the filter(s) become clogged so that there is no exhaust, the vacuum cleaner will not be able to pick up, no matter how powerful the motor. If you vacuum fine particles such as carpet fresheners, plaster dust, or powders, you will need to change you filter(s) more often to keep you vacuum cleaner working at peak performance.
