hello. when i pull out the hose for the attachments the hole is blowing but not sucking. what am i doing wrong.

Like most vacuum cleaners, your unit is designed to allow the brush to turn when the handle is in the upright position.  The brush is allowing air to flow through the hole when the upholstery hose is not connected.  If you have no suction at the end of the upholstery hose there is probably a clog in the hose.

You may have something caught in the hose.  The best way to eliminate this is to thoroughly clean out the clog, not just remove it, but remove the source.  Sometimes pine tree needles or other sharp objects will embed in the wall of the hose and cause a clog.  Below is a convenient video to assist you by unplugging the machine and using a broomstick through the upholstery hose to push out any clogs:
