It sounds like there may be a clog along the suction path or your filters may need cleaning.
To check the suction path, unplug the vacuum and remove the foot of the vacuum. Straighten the foot connector and look through the suction path. If you find a clog, shake out the debris. If this doesn't remove the clog, a pipe cleaner or coat hanger may be used to loosen the debris.
