Bissell Lift-off Deep Cleaner - Portable Spot Cleaner Has No Suction

Hello,  I have a Bissell Lift-off Deep cleaner, and the portable spot cleaner does not work. It will spray the cleaning fluid - but there is no suction to remove the fluid. Thank you for any help you can give.

The upholstery hose only suctions when the pod is removed from the base.  When you remove the tank the suction gate should close.  You can see the gate by removing the front tank and looking through the small clear window as show in the picture.  If it is stuck open, try replacing the pod and removing it to get the gate to close.  I hope this helps.  Here is a link to the user’s guide for this model:  http://www.bissell.com/downloadfile.aspx?id=17196&cid=ccsocial
