Is It Safe To Give My Account # To A Person Who Wants To Make Deposits To It?

My tenant wants to pay his rent directly to my checking account.

Yeah - you should be fine giving out your account number. This is done relatively frequently and there is basically nothing anyone could do with just your account number other than deposit money into it.

You may want to call Bank of America just to be 100% sure that there is nothing else you need to be thinking about.

Open a separate account for your tenant to deposit the rent into, then sweep the money into your own account, leaving the minimum in the separate account to prevent account maintenance charges. On no account give out any of your private BoA information to a third party.
