Laptop Recovery from DVD
1. Insert the Recovery DVD into the optical drive. Your Notebook PC needs to be powered ON.
2. Restart the laptop. Press ESC when you see ASUS logo and then select the optical drive (may be labeled as "CD/DVD") from ODD. Press [Enter] to boot from the Recovery DVD.
3. Select OK to start to restore the image.
4. Select OK to confirm the system recovery.
Restoring will overwrite your hard drive. Ensure to back up all your important data before the system recovery.
5. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the recovery process.
WARNING: DO NOT remove the Recovery disc during the recovery process unless instructed to do so. Or else your partitions will be unusable. Ensure to connect the power adapter to your Notebook PC when performing system recovery. Unstable power supply may cause recovery failure.
Now for Partitions :
1. After loading windows and softwares/Drivers and antivirus. Update your windows and Anrivirus and proceed to step 2
2. Windows 7 or windows vista . Click Start -> Type diskmgmt.msc -> Right click on the highlited Diskmgmt.msc and Run as Administrator.
3 A .
There is empty space to fill. unpartitioned areaRight-click on the empty area to get the context menu and then navigate to the New Simple Volume menu item, which will start the appropriate wizard.
Start the New Simple Volume Wizard.Click Next on the Welcome screen to start the process.
The Welcome screen starts the process. You can take the empty space and divide it into several drives, but in our example, I am going to use the remaining space for the new simple volume.
Specify the volume size.On the next screen in the wizard you are asked to assign a drive letter or path to the new volume. You have three choices:
- Assign the following drive letter: Windows has suggested the next available drive letter. This is the default and will most often be the preferable choice.
- Mount in the following empty NTFS folder: Instead of using a drive letter you can mount the drive to a folder. This essentially makes the drive look like and operate like a folder in Windows.
- Do not assign a drive letter or drive path: You will have to assign a letter or path later in order to make the drive usable for storage.
We’ll just stick with the default and make a new drive E.
Assign a drive letter or drive path. The screen in the wizard deals with formatting our new drive. In general, you should choose to format this drive under the NTFS file system; however, you can also choose to use FAT32. The other default setting should not be used unless you know have a specific reason to change the allocation size.
You should give your new drive a label to help you distinguish the new drive from other drives on your system. A quick format will take less time, but it will not find and mark bad sectors on your drive that could cause problems later.
NTFS drives have built-in compression systems that are essentially seamless to users and can be a good choice if storage space is a premium.
Set the formatting options. The last screen in the wizard gives you a summary of your choices and the opportunity to step back and make changes. When you are satisfied with your choices, click the Finished button.
Click Finish to create your drive. When the formatting is complete, you will have a new drive visible to Windows 7 and ready to store your files .
A new drive is available.
3 B .
There is Single/Double huge Drive.
Right-click on the drive area to get the context menu and then navigate to the Shrink Volume menu item, which will start the appropriate wizard.
Type in how many MB (1 GB = 1024 MB) of the available shrink space shown that you want to shrink the partition or volume by to be used for the new unallocated space, then click on the Shrink button.
Warning The size of the available shrink space can be restricted by the amount of space currently allocated to on the hard drive for the virtual memory page file, System Protection maximum storage space size, andhibernation files. The location of the files on the hard drive plays a big part here because these files are marked as unmovable, and Disk Management is unable to relocate them. As such, if these unmovable files are located in the middle of the total amount of free space on the disk, then only the amount of free space on the other side (to the right) of these files will actually be available for the new partition. This will result in you showing that you have x amount of free space, but not being able to use it for your partition. The only way around this is to use a 3rd party hard drive partition management program, or setup the partition when installing Vista.6. The selected partition (step 4) has now been shrunk to create a new empty unallocated space. You can use this new unallocated space to create a new partition with.
7. Close the Computer Management window.
