Login Show User As Admin And Askes For Password

I just received a macbook pro as agift. I have never used a mac and when I try to load on snow lepard it askes for a pass work but shown a user name as "admin" I have not set anything up yet and need help getting started. Thanks, Kurt

Boot up from any OS X installation disk (Tiger, Leopard, Snow Leopard). At the menu at the top of the screen one of the options will be "Reset master password." Do that and you'll be good to go.
