In version 5 of its iOS mobile operating system, Apple introduced a new feature that allows users of its mobile devices, such as the iPod Touch, to download and install iOS updates wirelessly. Previously, iPod Touch users had to physically connect their device to a computer and use iTunes to download and install an iOS update; now you can simply update your device over a standard Wi-Fi connection.

Tap on the "Settings" icon in the iPod Touch's Home screen.

Select "General" and tap "Software update." Your iPod Touch will now check whether an iOS update is available for download or not. If it is, a new screen containing details about the update will appear.

Tap on "Download and install." Read the terms of service and, if you agree with them, tap "I agree." Your device will start downloading the update file and automatically install it.
