Are American Express gift cards accepted everywhere?
I am considering giving AMEX gift cards to our employees this year for bonuses, but need to know if they are truly accepted everywhere. Their marketing information says the gift cards are accepted globally and I want to make sure they are as good as cash.

Some restrictions on merchant acceptance will apply to the Gift Card. The Gift Card is only useable in the U.S., Puerto Rico and USVI. It cannot be used at cruise lines, for recurring billing purchases, or at casinos or ATMs. Additional restrictions apply.
