Yes, there is wheelchair access for airline travel, ranging from wheelchair assistance from the terminal curb to the gate, or even wheelchair access down the jetway and in the aircraft cabin if needed.

You need to contact American Airlines in advance of your flight and advise them the type of wheelchair access you need. They will know what questions to ask. This is free of charge and will be available even in your connection cities. Call 1-800-433-7300 for help and advance arrangements.
