A Ticket Was Reported On My Email Address, Which I Did Not Purchase.

What you need to do should you receive this kind of letter is to first check with your credit card company to make sure that there is indeed no charge for an airline ticket.

While this kind of phishing letter is not unusual, it can be upsetting and confusing causing you to click to open links within the email or attachments which are included. Don't do that!

You can, of course call American Airlines Reservations to determine if information provided in the body of the email is accurate, meaning an identity theft. Chances are the phisher was just hoping to lure you into providing personal information.

1-800-433-7300 is a 24/7 reservations number for American Airlines.
