Why Do We Allow The Federal Government

The answer is actually really obvious if you examine our method of government.
- We elect wealthy people into office because they are the ones who can afford to run.
- We use a method of election that eliminates the popular vote and passes the voting power to a small "electoral college" that may vote how they feel fit regardless of how they "should" vote.
- Our elected officials manipulate law and policy to safeguard themselves above and beyond anything else. What actually affects the common man is secondary. If you don't believe this then why are "riders" allowed on proposed legislation?
- Our goverment is it's own oversight so the fox is watching over the hen house.
- The method they use to keep the coffers full it to tap into every aspect of our collective income as much as as they can. The lottery is an obvious target.
My personal opinion is that we need to restructure everything so that only the federal government may tax income. Income tax should be limited to a flat %10 of income. Any person, entity, corporation, oragization that has income should be required to pay this. After all, we all should be helping to pay for our government (within reason) and I think %10 is reasonable as long as everyone pays it. The lower cutoff for paying taxes should be anyone who makes less than %10 over the established poverty limit.
States should only be allowed to tax sales.
Local governments should only tax property, both personal and real estate based.
There should ne NO tax breaks, loopholes, exclusions, exceptions what so ever. Everyone should help in some way to pay to run the government and I feel %10 is a reasonable amount.
And since I'm on my soap box, we need to abolish the electoral college and go to a popular vote.
Anyway, these are my personal opinions, take them for what they are. Until we can ALL agree that things need to change and ALL take steps to make it happen you should expect things to continue as they are.
