Alcatel 871a Makes Emergency Call On Its Own Way Too Easily.
Today was my first day carrying this phone. I carry it in my pocket. I suddenly heard it ringing, pulled it out of my pocket, and heard a woman in the earphone saying, "911, what is your emergency?" I was shocked to learn that a couple-second (even accidental) depression of the call button makes it dial 911! Locking the phone doesn't stop it from happening. Is there anyway a patch can be issued to allow us to change the number it dials to 0?

Since May 9, AT&T released a software update to disable the auto-911 call feature. To get the update, go to Menu -> Settings -> AT&T Software Update.
If you get a message saying the update failed, you may have your data service turned off. To check/turn on your data service, go to Menu -> Settings -> Networks.
If you still get the message with your data service on, the phone should eventually get the update within 48 hours.
