how do i activate a text tone - I have a ring tone, but no notification at all of a text coming through?

Hi. If you are sure the device is not on silence, then open the text message application > tap the aption button > scroll to Notifications (ensure the check box is checked) > tap select ring tone (and ensure silence is not selected there)
