My Phone Wont Let Me Delete This One Thread Of Messages

My phone wont let me delete just this one thread of messages (containing around 5,500 messages-whitch may be the start of the problem) but I can delete other threads from other people, its just this one persons that I cant delete and its completely screwing with my messaging and making it slow and forcing me to turn the phone off just so I can get away from a black screen. I appreciate hte help, thank you.
