Once you reach official remission of 60 or more months (5 or more years), you would be able to apply for the policy (before you reach the age of 65) at the same premium as someone who has never had gone through cancer. In this case, the only additional step is that a cancer history form would be part of the application.
If the cancer treated-diagnosed within the last 5 years were skin cancer, the policy may be issued with a skin cancer exclusion rider included. Once you have been in remission for 5 or more years, you could apply for the policy (beofre the age of 65) and the full policy could be issued.
The above is according to the cancer indemnity plan offered in the State of California. If you're in another state, the plan available may be a bit different.
