I Have An Acer A3-600 All In One New Printer Connection Problems

I have and acer A3-600 all in one and a ( Brother MFC-J1170 printer). The printer is new and the acer is older but was never used the mfg date 7/18/2014. The problem im having is my new printer will not connect , when i tried to connect wireless it says its not compatible . how do I get my printer to connect ?
