Dc Power Supply
i tested the dc port on the laptop and it had a short so i changed it but no power from the charger is still reaching the laptop. the laptop still powers on with power from the battery. am thinking there could possibly be something wrong on the motherboard. i was wondering if there anything that can be done to repair it without replacing the motherboard or what specific component would be affected that would cause this. is there like a fuse or something of the sort that would be open

Yup the fuse has blown. That is preventing the charger to transmit current to your laptop. You will have to get that fixed.
