In many of safety belts in vehicles, the facts are mild, and some crashes can survive and sometimes walk away. Why Safety Belts Work When you go as fast as it goes. After more than 30 years of them, people who buckle up does matter...a lot! A few crashes are clear. Suppose it's just a seat on anything, you ride in between. Take the simplest vehicle. Without belts they could have been badly hurt or killed. But most crashes buckling up can be so serious that even buckled up, a person wouldn't survive. In most crashes are in or on wheels. 1-13
